The Katsina State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared Senator Yakubu Danmarke (also known as Yakubu Lado) the winner of its governorship primary election, positioning him as the party’s flag bearer for the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made on Sunday in Katsina by the Chairman of the PDP Governorship Primary Election Committee, Nuradeen Sani. He noted that the entire process adhered strictly to the provisions of the Electoral Act and was characterized by peace and transparency.
According to the results, 78,085 delegates were accredited, with 77,013 valid votes cast in favor of Senator Lado. Seventy-two delegates who arrived late were unable to participate in the voting process.

“Senator Yakubu Lado, having secured the majority of the votes cast, is hereby declared the winner of the consensus primary election held on Sunday, 24th May 2026,” Sani declared.
The outcome sparked wild jubilation among PDP supporters and loyalists gathered at the venue. With this victory, Lado is now set to carry the party’s banner into the Katsina State governorship race in 2027.
