Nigeria Is Too Hard to Survive Alone

Many Nigerian women now believe that one of the best solutions for a single woman facing the pressure of life is marriage. The reason is not difficult to understand. The Nigerian economy has become harder, and many responsibilities that one person could manage before are becoming difficult to handle alone.

The Nigeria of the past may have been easier for a single person to manage, but things are different today. The cost of food, rent, transportation and other basic needs continues to put pressure on people. For some single women, having a partner means having someone to share these responsibilities with.

Some women also believe that men are becoming more careful about taking on responsibilities because of the economic situation. Yet, for many of them, marriage remains a hope for a better tomorrow. They believe that life may become more manageable when two people come together and face the challenges as a family.

But there is also another side to this thinking. Marriage should not only be seen as a way for a woman to escape financial pressure. Marriage itself comes with responsibilities, and both partners must be prepared to contribute.

Still, in a country where surviving alone is becoming increasingly difficult, it is understandable why some single women see marriage as a way to share the burden. The real question is whether the person they marry will truly be ready to build a life with them and face its challenges together.
