NDC Questions Otti’s Support for Tinubu

The New Media and Strategic Communications Director of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Theo Abu Agada, has questioned Governor Alex Otti of Abia State over his position on President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.

Speaking on Saturday, Agada argued that Otti should be supporting Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, instead of backing Tinubu. He described Otti as one of the major beneficiaries of the political support and movement that surrounded Obi during the 2023 presidential election.

Agada questioned why Otti, who benefited politically from Obi’s popularity in 2023, would now support Tinubu rather than campaign for Obi. His comments came amid renewed political discussions over the positions of Labour Party figures and supporters ahead of the 2027 general election.

Otti has previously explained that his support for Tinubu is connected to his position as a governor and member of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and other political structures, while maintaining that he has a Labour Party presidential candidate he supports for 2027.

The disagreement highlights the growing debate within and around the Labour Party over political alignments ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
