The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has questioned Peter Obi’s public display of modesty, describing it as a possible political strategy to win the support of Nigerians.
Wike made the statement on Tuesday during an engagement with Rivers State youths ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to Wike, Obi’s habit of celebrating his birthday and buying roasted corn by the roadside does not necessarily prove that he is as modest as he wants the public to believe.

He also questioned Obi’s record during his eight years as governor of Anambra State, arguing that the image of modesty he now displays to Nigerians was not reflected in the same way during his time in office.
Wike further described Obi as a “media president,” suggesting that his public image is built around how he is presented to the public.
The minister maintained that Obi’s display of modesty could be a political strategy aimed at winning the minds of Nigerians ahead of the 2027 election.
