The People You Ignore May Control Your Access

One of the biggest mistakes people make in business is looking down on those they consider less important.

Imagine you want to meet the owner of a big organisation to sign a contract, invest in your business, or help you achieve something important. You do everything possible to get the boss's attention, but along the way, you disrespect the secretary, personal assistant, driver, or cleaner.

You may be making a serious mistake without knowing it. These people may not be the ones making the final decisions, but they play important roles in the organisation. They work closely with the people in charge and may understand how the organisation operates.

The secretary may be responsible for arranging appointments. The personal assistant may know the boss's schedule, while the driver may know the best time to reach the boss. Even the cleaner may have worked in the organisation for years and understand how things operate behind the scenes.

Yet, some people ignore or disrespect them simply because of their positions.

The truth is that you do not have to be the boss before you can be important. Sometimes, the person you consider unimportant may be the one who helps you get the opportunity you have been looking for.

Imagine having a good business proposal but losing an opportunity because of the way you treated someone who could have helped you reach the right person. You may have the money, connections, and qualifications, but your attitude can still close doors for you.

Successful businesspeople understand that an organisation is not built by one person alone. Everyone has a role to play, from the person making major decisions to the people working behind the scenes.

However, respecting people should not be based only on what they can do for you. You should treat people with respect because they deserve it, not because you want to gain something from them.

The person you ignore today may become important to your journey tomorrow. Life can change, and the people you meet along the way may influence your opportunities in ways you never expected.

Never allow your position, money, or ambition to make you look down on others. You may be looking for access to the person at the top while disrespecting someone who could help you get there.

Remember, every individual has value. Learn to respect people regardless of their job title, financial status, or position in society.

Sometimes, the connection you need is closer than you think, but your attitude may prevent you from seeing it.
