There was tension in Ogun State as members of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) staged heavy protest over the kidnapping of school children and teachers, calling on government authorities to take urgent action.
The protest reportedly saw a large turnout of angry teachers and education stakeholders who gathered to express anger and concern over the situation, which they said has continued to affect schools and communities across the state.
The demonstrators, who broke the state government house gate and forced their way into the premises despite resistance by security officials, insisted that the safety of pupils and teachers must be treated as top priority.
According to the protesters, the incident involving the abduction of school children and teachers has created fear among parents and disrupted normal academic activities in affected areas.
They said many schools are now operating under anxiety and fear due to the rising insecurity in Nigeria.
The protest took place as members of the NUT marched and gained access to key government areas in the state, where they continued their demands for immediate intervention and rescue efforts for the abducted children.
They carried placards with different inscriptions, calling for the release of the abducted victims and stronger protection for schools.

The teachers stressed that they were acting out of concern for both education and safety, adding that repeated cases of kidnapping in parts of the country have made it difficult for students and teachers to feel secured in school environments.
They also appealed to the government to strengthen security presence around schools and ensure that urgent steps are taken to prevent further attacks. According to them, education cannot thrive in an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty.
Residents who witnessed the protest described the situation as serious, noting that the level of concern among teachers reflected broader fears within communities about insecurity and its impact on children.
The Nigeria Union of Teachers maintained that their action was necessary to draw attention to the issue and pressure authorities to respond swiftly.
They emphasized that their demand was focused on the safe return of the abducted pupils and teachers.
As of the time of filing this report, there had been no official update from relevant authorities regarding the status of the victims, while calls for urgent government response continued to grow across the state.
