Beside Omo-Agege Who Feels Wounded, No NDC Candidate is Prepared for 2027 Election in Delta, And Here's Why

Feelers from the NDC camp in Delta state are indicative that besides former Deputy Senate president, Ovie Omo-Agege, other candidates of the party including the governorship candidate, Chris Iyovwaye, are not actually prepared for the January and February elections in 2027. Their body movement and their inactivity show their unpreparedness for the race.

Many of the candidates are banking on the grace of Peter Obi to win the elections. This is especially so for the candidates of the national assembly elections that will be held on same day with the presidential elections. Many are hoping that as it happened in 2023 when many won without campaigning, they are of the belief that being NDC candidates will give them automatic victory on election day.

In 2023, Ngozi Okolie who's representing Aniocha/Oshimili at the federal house of representatives, won overwhelmingly without campaigns. Okolie never expected the victory. He never campaigned. But surprisingly he was victorious. He himself was surprised how he won the election. Yes, it was the grace of Obi that covered a lot of them.

As the 2027 elections are gathering momentum, candidates like Theodora Isioma Ndah, who's the party candidate for Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency, is very quiet, not showing any sign of campaigning for the election. Some journalists told Next Africa Daily that they have reportedly reached out to her to hear her programs for the federal constituency, she's not yielding to Invitations.

She's only seen making posts on her Facebook with few followers. Since the campaigns started, she has not made any comment on her ambition and how she plans to change the constituency if voted into office in 2027. Certainly, she must be banking on the grace of Peter Obi as it happened in 2023. This time it may not necessarily be so.

Even Victor Ochei, who's running for the Senate of Delta North also seems unprepared for the election. In the statements so far he has made, he's only heard attacking Ifeanyi Okowa, the APC senatorial candidate for Delta North. He has continuously questioned what for Okowa couldn't do in eight years as governor for Delta North that he wants to do in the Senate. While it is true that many Anioma people are opposed to the candidacy of Okowa, Ochei must tell the people what he has in mind for Delta North if voted into power.

The Delta South NDC senatorial candidate seems to be the most docile and inactive of all the national assembly candidates in Delta State. His name is not even known to many of his constituents in the region. This applies to many other house of representatives candidates in the state.

It's only Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the Delta Central senatorial candidate that's pulling the strings and set to battle it out with Ede Dafinone, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Ede Dafinone is no match to Omo-Agege. Dafinone is banking on the support of the Governor. This expected support may likely fail. Though the governor's election is not on same day with the national assembly elections, Dafinone has very slim chances of winning the election.

Many people in Delta Central are routing heavily for Omo-Agege. This is based on his performance in the last Senate. His doggedness and aggressive move for the development of Delta Central as evidenced in the projects he attracted to the area are top notch. The Governor of the state, Sheriff Oborevwori is afraid of him. And that is why he is doing everything to outsmart him.
