Your phone can connect you to the world, but it can also consume your time if you do not know how to use it wisely.

In our modern world, smartphones have become important tools for communication, learning and discovering opportunities. Social media can help young people develop their talents, promote businesses and even find ways to earn money. However, the same platforms can become distractions when we use them without purpose.

Many people spend hours watching short videos, moving from one clip to another without considering what they are gaining. Entertainment is not wrong, but when scrolling becomes an everyday routine that takes priority over important responsibilities, it is time to reconsider our habits.

Another concern is comparison. Some young people spend their time viewing other people's status updates and achievements, comparing their lives with those of people who appear to be progressing faster. Instead of concentrating on their own development, they become dissatisfied with their circumstances.

Why spend so much time watching other people's progress that you forget to work on your own? Before opening a social media application, ask yourself what you want to achieve. Are you looking for information, learning a skill, communicating with someone or simply relaxing? Entertainment is acceptable, but it should not consume so much of your time that you neglect your responsibilities and personal goals.

While some people use the internet to develop their talents, promote their businesses and explore opportunities, others spend most of their time watching and comparing. The difference lies partly in how they choose to use the time available to them.

Young people must understand that the internet offers more than entertainment. It can be a valuable tool for learning, creativity and personal development. Your phone is not the problem by itself. The important thing is knowing when to use it and when to put it aside.
