South Africa President Sends Warning to Foreign Nationals, Says Immigration Laws Must be Obeyed

South Africa President, Cyril Ramaphosa, has said that despite migration could be beneficial to nations in diverse ways, it's important to emphasise that illegal migration cannot be tolerated.

"We do need to address the challenge of migration. When it is well managed and regulated, migration can help to drive economic growth and opportunity for all.

"However, we need to deal with illegal migration, we have seen how illegal immigration into our country can put pressure into our public services and undermine our efforts to create decent work for our people", Ramaphosa said.

He announced that the government of South Africa is seriously dealing with issues of illegal migration. He said the government is talking decisive action to address the challenge in South Africa."

He revealed that the nation is cracking down on viations of migration laws, nothing that the country is increasing inspection of work places and prosecuting employers who violate the country's labour laws.

"We are strengthening our border security, stamping out corruption in the immigration system, and closing the loopholes in fragment immigration laws, We must be clear, " Ramaphosa declared.

He noted that every person in South Africa, whether citizen or foreign nationals, must respect the laws of the country.

"They must also respect the right of every person in our country, and our laws must be upheld. We must never give in to violence, to xenophobia and to vigilantism", Ramaphosa said.

The xenophobic crisis rocking the South African country has created tension both in the country and other African nations. Many had been brutally murdered, shops owned by foreigners had been looted while homes and properties seized or bought from escaping foreigners at give away prices.

Following the crisis, the government of Ghana has evacuated many of their citizens out of the country. While it has provided jobs for some of them, the Ghana government called on employers of labour to create opportunity for the returnees to find of livelihoods.
