International media personality Donu Kogbara has criticized Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, over his alleged support for an Ikwerre governorship candidate in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Thursday, Kogbara described Wike’s backing of Ogundu Kingsley Chinda who recently emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate as insensitive.
While acknowledging that Chinda is a good person, Kogbara argued that he should have rejected the offer.
“Kingsley Chinda is a nice man, but I feel he should have rejected the offer to become the APC governorship candidate from Wike because it’s wrong,” she said.
She pointed out that Chinda hails from virtually the same village as Wike, and that Rivers State has already produced three or four governors from the Ikwerre ethnic group. “Chinda is Ikwerre as well,” she noted.

Kogbara emphasized that the Ogoni people have never produced a governor, deputy governor, speaker, or chief judge in Rivers State.
“It’s insensitive for Wike to bring another Ikwerre candidate. There’s never been an Ogoni governor, deputy governor, speaker, or chief judge in Rivers State,” she stated.
She clarified that her opposition is not personal but ethical. “I’m going to fight Chinda over this governorship thing.
It’s not personal because I like him, but for ethical reasons, Chinda should have refused to play this role. He knows it’s not his turn. His ethnic group’s turn.”
