Party officials announced a wide-margin win for Okowa after a fiercely contested exercise that ultimately tilted heavily in his favour, turning the race into what observers describe as a clear demonstration of internal party strength and political structure dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The result shows Okowa consolidating overwhelming support across key wards and local government areas, leaving Nwoko trailing significantly in what has now become one of the most talked-about primaries in Delta politics.
Reacting to the outcome, Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, strongly defended the process, insisting that the result reflects the authentic decision of APC delegates in Delta North.

Aniagwu said Okowa’s victory was driven by deep-rooted political relationships, strong grassroots mobilisation, and long-standing influence within party structures across the senatorial district.
He dismissed claims of irregularities, maintaining that the exercise was conducted in full compliance with APC guidelines and internal democratic procedures.
According to him, the outcome is a reflection of “clear political alignment within the party structure,” rather than external influence or controversy.
The development has sparked widespread political reactions across Delta State, with analysts noting that the scale of Okowa’s victory could significantly reshape alliances, loyalty blocs, and strategic positioning within the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
