Senator Ned Nwoko has intensified political tensions in Delta State after declaring a sweeping victory in the fiercely contested APC senatorial primary, insisting that party members across Delta North gave him an overwhelming mandate despite alleged intimidation and pressure during the exercise.
In his declaration to APC supporters, Nwoko said results collated by his agents from all 98 wards across the nine local government areas confirmed his victory in the direct primary election. He commended party faithful for standing firm and defending the democratic process at a critical political moment for the region.
The lawmaker described the outcome as a major endorsement of the growing campaign for the creation of Anioma State as Nigeria’s proposed 37th state, promising to intensify efforts toward achieving the long-standing demand while strengthening the APC’s influence across Delta North ahead of the 2027 elections.

Nwoko also rejected what he described as fabricated results being circulated on social media, urging supporters to remain calm while awaiting the official announcement from the APC national leadership.
He further declared that Delta North would remain firmly under APC control in 2027, expressing confidence that the party would retain the Senate seat and deliver strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next general election.
The development has triggered intense reactions within Delta’s political circles, with analysts predicting that the APC primary contest in Delta North could shape the wider political struggle for power in the state ahead of 2027.
