Governor Hope Uzodimma has delivered a crushing defeat to former Governor Rochas Okorocha in the APC senatorial primary for Imo West (Orlu Zone).
Uzodimma pulled an overwhelming 230,464 votes, while Okorocha managed just 1,098 in the direct primary held on Monday.
According to Punch, aspirant In Imo North and Imo East, other aspirants stepped down for consensus candidates Alex Mbata and incumbent Senator Patrick Ndubueze. But in Orlu Zone, Okorocha refused to back down, forcing a face-off with the governor.

Retired Rear Admiral Williams Kayode, who chaired the APC primary committee for Imo, announced Uzodimma’s victory across all 12 local government areas of Orlu Zone.
The party’s publicity secretary, Onwuasoanya Jones, praised aspirants who voluntarily withdrew to strengthen unity, calling them the “real winners and heroes.” He also thanked INEC officials and security agents for ensuring a smooth process.
