Iran’s parliament is considering a controversial bill that would require the government to pay €50 million to anyone who assassinates US President Donald Trump, according to a senior Iranian lawmaker speaking on Thursday.
Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said lawmakers have drafted several proposals since the outbreak of the March conflict, including measures focused on military and security retaliation.
Speaking on state television, Azizi claimed that the US president, Israel’s prime minister, and the commander of CENTCOM should face what he described as “reciprocal action” over the deaths of Iranian leaders and military commanders.
He argued that Iran has the right to respond, stating that just as Iranian figures were killed, those responsible should also be targeted.
According to Azizi, the proposed legislation would obligate the government to pay a €50 million reward to any person or organization that carries out what he called a “religious and ideological mission.”
The remarks come amid escalating anti-Trump rhetoric inside Iran. Earlier in March, Iranian mobile users reportedly received mass text messages promoting an “international campaign” supporting Trump’s assassination.
