In a major political upset, Senator Ede Dafinone has convincingly won the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary for Delta Central, trouncing former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege.
Although Omo-Agege had earlier claimed victory, official results gave Dafinone a staggering 116,252 votes against Omo-Agege’s 3,643.
Meanwhile, former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa dominated the Delta North primary, polling 113,309 votes to defeat Senator Ned Nwoko, who managed just 2,612. In Delta South, incumbent Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas was leading across six of eight local government areas as collation continued.

The primaries used the direct Option A4 voting system across wards and were described by officials as peaceful and orderly.
Following his win, Dafinone praised the transparency of the process and called on Omo-Agege to unite with other party members for a strong showing in the 2027 general elections.
