Former Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has ignited a fresh political storm after boldly declaring that he had long foreseen the decline of Nigeria’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting the opposition party was already on a path of internal collapse.
Shaibu’s statement has drawn wide attention across Nigeria’s political space, as he openly described the PDP as a “dying party,” attributing its struggles to deep-rooted internal crises, leadership mistrust, and unresolved factional battles that have weakened its national structure.
His comments come at a sensitive moment for the party, which continues to battle defections, internal disagreements, and questions about its ability to remain a strong opposition force ahead of future elections.
