Former Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, has released a powerful statement, asking former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, what else he want having served in various government positions since the inception of this democratic dispensation in Nigeria.
Since 1999 till date, Okowa has served in almost all government offices in Nigeria, with the exclusion of office of Nigeria President and chief judge of Nigeria. He was vice presidential candidate in the last 2023 general elections.
Specifically, Okowa has served as councilor, local government chairman, commissioner, secretary to state government, senator of the national Assembly and governor of Delta State for eight years. These offices spanned through a number of years in Delta State government and four years as senator before becoming governor of the state in 2015.
Ochei is of view that Okowa has done his best for Delta state is time for him to sit back and allow younger Deltans to take over the space. But he is pissed off seeing Okowa pushing off Senator Ned Nwoko and trying to take over the office of senator for Delta North.
Ochei hinted that Okowa has had enough and it's time to retreat and play the fatherly and advisory role. Victor Ochei who recently joined the now main opposition party, the Nigerian Democratic Party (NDC), said Okowa is positioning himself to be the godfather of Delta and be the determining factor of who emerges leader in the state.
He told his political family that Okowa is not only pushing himself but also projecting his daughter, Marylin Okowa Daramola to the state house of assembly, and his inlaw to the federal house of representatives. This, Ochei described as impunity from Okowa.
He told his team that Governor Sheriff Oborewvori had appealed to him not to challenge the ambition of Okowa, he reportedly called it bluff, believing that it was an unacceptable error for Okowa to hound Delta North into his pocket and push his family into the politics of Delta North.

God has blessed him in all areas of life. What else does he want? It is better to leave the stage when the ovation is loudest,” Ochei said.
He explained that his intention to contest the Delta North Senate was to break what he described as attempt to establish a political dynasty that may be difficult to break in the years to come.
His belief is that if Okowa is allowed to go into the race, he may remain there for years without a challenger. Hence, it is better he is blocked from getting the position now.
He is of the belief that his aspiration is to create opportunity for younger generation to ascend the seat of power and not only the older generation taking shots at power while promising younger people power without fulfillment.
He also spoke on the challenges they face on the APC, his former party. He revealed that during the days of former President Muhammadu Buhari, members of the APC fared better than now, noting that in the Tinubu's administration, he handed the party over to defectors who now decide the fate of the party to legacy members.
As it is now, Ochei of the NDC is the only known opposition candidate contesting the Delta North Senate with Okowa of the APC, who is heavily supported by the governor of the state, Sheriff Oborewvori. The contest promises to be one of the fiercest political warfare in Delta North in the coming days.

Delta State politics may have just entered its most dangerous and unpredictable era since 1999. What looked like minor cracks within the APC has suddenly exploded into a full-scale political earthquake. The defection of former Delta State House of Assembly Speaker, Victor Ochei, and former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, into the National Democratic Congress (NDC) signals the birth of a potentially ruthless opposition bloc capable of destabilizing the current political balance in Delta State.
