Video Evidence Sparks Fresh Controversy Over Delta North APC Primaries (Watch The Video)

Allegations of irregularities have continued to trail the Delta North All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primaries held across the 98 wards in the district, following the emergence of conflicting claims over the election results. The two key figures in the primaries are incumbent Senator Ned Nwoko and former governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

Results announced from the election on Monday May 18, 2026 revealed that Senator Ifeanyi Okowa scored 113, 309 votes while Senator Ned Nwoko scored paltry 2,613 votes with Maryam Alli scoring 40 votes.

But video evidence released by office of Senator Ned Nwoko and posted on his Facebook page clearly gave different impression over the senatorial election.

Available videos showing the APC members voting, singing and dancing are indicators that serious investigations are needed to unravel the facts surrounding results of the election.

While it is believed that a single aspirant cannot win 100 percent in all the wards in any election, available facts and video evidences, all prove that the 2,613 votes said to have been won by Senator Ned Nwoko are not authentic results of the election.

In a statement posted by Senator Ned Nwoko on his Facebook page on Sunday, June 7, 2026, Nwoko said: "No individual declaration, announcement, or political maneuver can substitute for the lawful votes cast by accredited voters."

He noted that democracy is founded on due process, transparency, and respect for the wishes of the people. His view is based on the fact that the success of any democratic nation must be transparent and the final decision on who leads a country rests on the hands of the people.

In the post which he titled: "Delta North APC Primaries: The Will of The People Cannot Be Overruled," he said he is confident that the truth will prevail and that the integrity of the process within the party will be upheld.

He added: "My commitment has always been to the people of Delta North, whose overwhelming support continues to inspire our movement for progress, justice, and inclusive development.

He urged his numerous supporters to remain calm, peaceful and steadfast, advising them to place "our faith in the party's constitutional processes and the institutions responsible for ensuring justice is done.

He insisted that the mandate freely given by the people of Delta North "is sacred, and together we will protect it."

In a separate interview, Senator Nwoko revealed that the facts released to the Delta North people are misrepresented and do not represent the true results of the primary election.

From the video posted on the Senator's Facebook page, Senator Nwoko won most of the wards in Ika North East, the local government of his rival and a host of others in the nine local government areas of Delta North.

In the video, one could hear the voters singing songs, celebrating Senator Ned Nwoko and dancing and some audibly saying it's Ned Nwoko all the way.

On a further interview, Senator Nwoko said he has done well as a senator for the people of Delta North.

He insisted that he has taken the Anioma cause to every level and has spoken fearlessly on behalf of Anioma people.

"I speak for the people all the time. The people of Anioma know who I am. I know them and I know their problems. These are things I've been addressing in the National Assembly," Senator Nwoko said

Analysing the videos in an interview on TVC News, Senator Nwoko's lawyer, Barrister Anthony Ogana said bulk of the videos is from Ika but Senator Ned Nwoko is not from Ika, he's from Aniocha North.

He said the video showed that "Ned won even in the stronghold of our major challenger."

On who has authority to declare results, he said it's only the APC at the national level that can officially declare who won the election.

"As I speak to you now, APC national has not given any senator certificate of return. It has only given certificate of return to the president. Senator Nwoko has always been the people's representative," Barrister Ogana said.

He said of Delta North have been praying for Ned Nwoko so that Anioma state could be created, adding that "Senator Nwoko has done much for our people."

He said the PDP defectors are trying to frustrate Nwoko out of the party but he doesn't want to leave, insisting that President Tinubu has promised Nwoko Anioma state and "that's what we want."

He queried: "How can Okpai in Ndokwa East be supplying light to Nigeria and Anioma land is in darkness? Ned is a bold man. People are looking at their interest, what they will gain from the Anioma state creation.

"People are saying why doesn't he be a good team player? We cannot accept anything so as to be a team player. Election is about representation. Let our Anioma senator go back to the Senate and give us Anioma state. That's what we are waiting for."
