A newborn baby's cry reportedly helped expose a woman carrying a baby that did not belong to her in Benin City.
Chioma Okoro shared this account with Next Africa Daily on October 28, 2026.
According to her, a driver noticed that the baby was crying and stopped to ask the woman what was wrong. The woman reportedly told the driver to leave the baby alone, saying the child would stop crying.
However, people became suspicious and confronted the woman. She eventually confessed that the baby did not belong to her.

Chioma also recalled another incident involving young children returning from school. According to her, an older child went to buy pure water for a younger girl. Before the older child returned, the younger girl had disappeared.
She urged parents to take their children's safety seriously and avoid allowing young children to travel to and from school alone when they are not old enough to do so safely.
She also advised parents to pay attention to where their children go and make arrangements to take them to school and bring them home safely.
Parents must not wait until something bad happens before taking action. Protecting children requires attention, care, and responsibility.
