Woman Breaks Down at Abakaliki Market After Sending ₦1.1m

As December approaches, Nigerians are being reminded to be careful about the people they trust, especially strangers they meet in public places.

Nwidembia Chiemeria, from Ishieke, Abakaliki, shared this concern with Next Africa Daily during a physical interview on October 27, 2026.

He spoke about a woman who was seen crying at International Market. According to the account he shared, the woman said she had sent ₦800,000 to someone who told her that witchcraft was involved in her situation.

She said the person later asked her to send another ₦300,000, which she also sent. The incident left a strong warning for people to be careful when strangers make claims that frighten them or ask them for money.

Another woman also complained that her goods had been stolen. These experiences are a reminder that people need to watch their belongings and be careful about who they trust, especially as the festive season draws near.

Speaking to Next Africa Daily, Chiemeria urged Nigerians and other West Africans to stay alert and avoid making quick decisions because of pressure from strangers.

People should think carefully before sending money to anyone they do not know. They should also pay attention to their surroundings when visiting markets and other public places.

As December approaches, everyone needs to play a part in keeping themselves and their belongings safe.

Let us be careful, stay alert, and work towards a safer December.
