Nigeria begins evacuation of citizens over xenophobia fears in south africa

Nigeria has begun emergency arrangements to evacuate its citizens from South Africa following renewed concerns over xenophobic tensions and safety risks facing foreign nationals.

Authorities say diplomatic missions are coordinating with relevant agencies to ensure affected Nigerians are protected and safely returned home where necessary. The move follows reports of rising hostility in some communities.

Officials in Nigeria are also engaging counterparts in South Africa to help calm tensions and improve the security situation for migrants.

The development has once again raised concerns over recurring xenophobic incidents in South Africa and their impact on African citizens living abroad.
