President Bola Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to 14-year-old Adeolu Oreofe following her remarkable victory as the 2026 African Spelling Bee Champion in the junior category.
The prestigious continental competition, which brought together some of the brightest young minds from across Africa, was held in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Oreofe, a student of St. Lawrence Metropolitan College in Ado Ekiti, emerged victorious after outperforming contestants from more than 20 African countries.
Her win not only earned her the coveted title but also secured a $5,000 educational scholarship, further supporting her academic journey.
In a statement issued by the President’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the young champion’s achievement as a testament to the value of consistent investment in education, literacy, and youth development.
He emphasized that successes like Oreofe’s highlight the immense potential within Nigeria’s younger generation when properly nurtured.
The President also commended Oreofe’s resilience and determination, noting that her journey to the top was marked by persistence despite earlier setbacks.
Her steady rise through the ranks of competitive spelling contests reflects both discipline and a commitment to excellence.
