Bauchi Court Jails Eight Over Thuggery

A Bauchi court has sentenced eight suspects to eight years' imprisonment over renewed thuggery in Unguwar Dim, with each suspect also facing a fine of ₦370,000, according to information provided in the reporter's notes.

The suspects were arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command following a complaint from the Peace and Security Committee in Unguwar Dim on October 14 over renewed thuggery in the area.

According to the notes, nine suspects were arrested during the police operation. The suspects were reportedly found with cutlasses, knives, sticks and other dangerous items.

Police spokesperson SP Napou Habibu said on Saturday that eight of the suspects were charged in court after an investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, welcomed the court's judgment, describing the outcome as an effective result of cooperation between the police and the community.
