Biafra Talks Hit Deadlock as Detained Nnamdi Kanu can't Negotiate - Biafra Republic Government Declares in Exile

A fresh crisis is unfolding in Nigeria’s separatist landscape after the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE) warned that any negotiations over Biafra’s future are impossible while Nnamdi Kanu remains in detention.

The group stated that Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is central to the agitation and must be physically present and free for any dialogue to carry legitimacy.

According to them, attempts to negotiate without him risk collapsing trust and worsening tensions.

Kanu is currently held by the Nigerian government, a situation that continues to draw criticism and heighten scrutiny over Nigeria’s handling of the long-running Biafra question.

Observers warn that the latest stance could stall any path to dialogue, deepening uncertainty and raising fears of renewed instability in the southeast.
