A devastating highway collision in central China has left at least 13 people dead after a minibus slammed into a truck in a tragic overnight crash that has once again raised global concerns over road safety.
Authorities said the fatal accident happened along a major expressway in Henan province, where emergency crews rushed to the scene to rescue survivors trapped inside the wreckage.
Several others were reportedly injured as twisted metal and debris covered parts of the highway.
Initial investigations revealed the minibus was heavily loaded before the deadly impact, with officials now probing the exact cause of the disaster. Images from the crash site showed destroyed vehicles and emergency responders battling to save lives in the early hours.
The tragedy has sparked widespread reactions online, with many citizens demanding stricter traffic enforcement and improved highway safety measures across China’s growing transport network.
Road accidents remain a serious concern in parts of Asia despite major investments in infrastructure, with experts warning that speeding, overloaded vehicles, and poor compliance with traffic laws continue to contribute to deadly crashes.
Chinese authorities have launched a full investigation into the incident as grieving families mourn the victims of yet another catastrophic highway disaster.
