Delta South Senator Showcases Legislative Gains, Promises Inclusive Development

Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas has reaffirmed his commitment to equitable representation across all ethnic groups in Delta South Senatorial District during a consultative visit to the Warri Urhobo APC family.

The meeting, held at the residence of Bernard Okumagba, Chairman of the Warri Urhobo APC Leadership Council, brought together key stakeholders including party executives, ward chairmen, councillors, and government appointees.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Joel-Onowakpo highlighted his legislative and constituency development efforts over the past two years and ten months, emphasizing his drive to attract meaningful federal presence to the district.

He disclosed that he has sponsored eight bills, several of which have been passed by the National Assembly, with some already signed into law.

Among them is the Nigeria Maritime University Okerenkoko Establishment Act, assented to by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in January 2025.

According to the senator, these legislative efforts are designed to strengthen education, healthcare, and maritime development while creating employment opportunities.

On infrastructure, he noted that numerous projects have been facilitated through appropriation processes, with several completed and others scheduled for execution.

Beyond legislation and infrastructure, the senator underscored his empowerment initiatives, revealing that over 2,000 constituents have benefited from various programs.

These include the distribution of motorcycles, sewing machines, solar equipment, agricultural inputs, and other tools, alongside training in areas such as conflict resolution, peace-building, solar technology, and drug abuse prevention.

Reiterating his stance on inclusivity, Senator Joel-Onowakpo stressed his dedication to fair representation for all four ethnic nationalities in the district—Ijaw, Isoko, Itsekiri, and Urhobo.

In his remarks, Okumagba commended the senator for promoting fairness, equity, and inclusive governance.

The meeting attracted a wide array of political leaders, including current and former office holders, as well as women and youth leaders from across Warri.
