One of the most important questions emerging from conversations with ordinary Nigerians today is whether governance is keeping speed with the realities faced by citizens on daily basis.
Recently, a concerned Nigerian citizen shared her frustrations about the direction of the country. Her concerns were not centred on political parties or individual politicians.
Instead, they focused on the everyday challenges many Nigerians continue to experience, including economic hardship and the struggle to make ends meet. Her remarks reflect a wider conversation taking place across communities.
While political debates often dominate national discussions, many citizens remain focused on issues that directly affect their lives. They want opportunities, economic stability, improved public services and a future that rewards hard work and talent.
Nigeria remains a country blessed with immense human potentials. Across different sectors, Nigerians continue to demonstrate resilience, innovation and determination. Yet many citizens believe that the country's progress has not fully matched its capabilities.
The concerns raised by ordinary Nigerians should not be dismissed simply as complaints. They represent questions about accountability, development and the role of leadership in improving the lives of citizens.

As the country continues to confront economic and social challenges, many people are looking beyond political rhetoric and asking what practical steps can be taken to improve living conditions and create opportunities for future generations.
Whether one agrees with every criticism or not, the conversation highlights an important reality: citizens want to see governance measured not only by political success but also by its impact on everyday lives.
Yes, citizens want to see governance measured with the impact it has made in the lives of the people. In Nigeria today, our leaders are focused on winning elections, forgetting about the welfare of the citizens.
Just consider for instance the kidnap of the teachers and school children in Oyo state. Videos are trending of the children and teachers lamenting in the hands of the abductors but our political leaders are busy pursuing 2027 ambition. They abandon little children and their teachers under the sun and rain.
This is not the Nigeria we all bargained for. We need a Nigeria that will care for the welfare of all citizens. We need a Nigeria that will give priority to the lives of the people above their personal interests. We need a Nigeria whose leaders will value the lives of the people more than whatever is of interest to them.
As it is now, it seems difficult to find leaders who value people more than their political ambition. This is the dilemma we find ourselves. The governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, is campaigning for presidency, Ahmed Bola Tinubu is campaigning to go back for 2027. But children are pining away in the forest. Who will save Nigeria from this mess?

Nigeria is currently in the throes of kidnapping. In the villages, cities and suburbs, there's fear of kidnapping everywhere. There are many kidnap cases which are not known to the media. Friends and relations of kidnapped victims are daily weeping over their relations languishing in the dens of kidnappers. Many are being made to borrow huge money to pay for random which will take them years to pay back. How did we get here? What actually went wrong with Nigeria? Who did Nigeria offend? UCHE OKPORIE writes on the pains and challenges of kidnapping in Nigeria and what the government needs to do very urgently

Sometimes I wonder why every APC governorship candidate, senatorial candidate and others are campaigning only for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and not even for themselves. Or do they think that being APC candidates, they have automatically won their different seats in the national Assembly or govetnorship of their states?

There is a growing conversation in Nigeria that cannot be ignored anymore, and it is the place of young people in the political future of the country. For many years, Nigerian politics has been dominated by older generations who have stayed in power for decades.
