A mother in Benin City, Edo State, has appealed to the government to address the rising cost of food and transportation, saying the situation is making it difficult for her to care for her children.
Nwogiji Amanda made the appeal in a message to Next Africa Daily on October 12, expressing her worries about how increasingly expensive it has become to meet her family's daily needs.
Amanda, who became emotional while sharing her experience, said the rising cost of living was putting pressure on her as a mother. She called on the government to take action to make life easier for families struggling to afford basic necessities.
She also urged political leaders to remember the needs of ordinary Nigerians beyond election periods, stressing that helping citizens should be a responsibility of the government and not something to be emphasised only when votes are needed.
Amanda appealed to the government to do what is necessary to ease the hardship facing families, particularly those struggling to provide food and meet transportation costs.
