The Kano State Private and Voluntary Institutions Board has shut down nine private schools for failing to complete the required recertification process. The board also warned that any affected school that reopens without approval will face legal action.
The Executive Secretary of the board, Baba Abubakar Umar, made this known during a media parley in Kano, where he stressed the need for private schools to renew their operating licences annually.

It warned that schools that fail to comply with the directive would face legal consequences.
The board further cautioned the affected institutions against resuming operations without official approval.
