Nigeria’s deepening security crisis has struck at the heart of its future, as armed attackers abducted at least 14 students preparing for national exams during a violent roadside ambush in Benue State.
The victims, many of them candidates of the country’s crucial university entrance examination, were traveling by bus when gunmen intercepted the vehicle, forcing passengers into captivity.
The attack highlights the growing danger faced by ordinary Nigerians, even in pursuit of education.
Benue, a region already grappling with recurring violence, is increasingly becoming a hotspot for kidnappings and armed assaults. Incidents like this are no longer isolated, but part of a widening pattern that continues to unsettle communities and disrupt daily life.
