Have you ever wondered why some people take their personal appearance seriously but pay little attention to the environment they live in? They dress well, smell nice and look good outside, but their surroundings at home tell a different story.
Keeping our environment clean is not just about making our homes look beautiful. It is also about protecting our health. Dirty surroundings can attract mosquitoes, rats and other pests that can expose us to diseases.
Take mosquitoes, for example.
Their bites can transmit malaria, a disease that can become life-threatening when not properly treated. This is why we should not allow stagnant water, refuse and other breeding places for mosquitoes to remain around our homes.
In Nigeria, everyone has a role to play in keeping the environment clean. Whether you live in Lagos, Abia, Ebonyi or any other state, cleanliness should be part of your daily life. Communities facing sanitation challenges, including some parts of Ajegunle in Lagos, need collective efforts to maintain cleaner surroundings.
