Africa’s Powerhouse: Nigeria’s Top 10 Companies Now Worth N110 Trillion – MTN, Dangote, BUA Lead the Charge

Nigeria’s stock market is becoming increasingly dominated by its largest players. As of April 2026, the ten most valuable companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) boasted a combined market capitalization of N110.12 trillion, according to an analysis of market data.

This staggering figure represents nearly 71% of the entire NGX’s total equity market cap of N155.70 trillion, highlighting the sheer weight of blue-chip stocks. Within the elite circle of stocks often called "SWOOT" (Stocks Worth Over One Trillion), these ten giants alone account for over 77% of the N142.79 trillion total valuation.

A Year of Explosive Growth

The dominance of these top-tier firms has intensified dramatically over the past year:

· Month-on-Month (March to April 2026): Market cap surged by N23.15 trillion, from N86.96 trillion to N110.12 trillion. · Year-on-Year (April 2025 to April 2026): An eye-watering addition of N68.28 trillion, compared to just N41.83 trillion a year earlier. · Year-to-Date (from December 2025): The top ten have gained N45.75 trillion, starting the year at N64.37 trillion.

This concentration of value, liquidity, and investor sentiment into a handful of mega-caps underscores a clear trend: Nigeria’s market is being powered by its corporate titans.
