A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Ayiri Emami, has disclosed details of his recent discussion with Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, stating that he openly presented his preferred candidates for key legislative positions ahead of the 2027 general elections. This is as reported by Big Pen, an online newspaper in Delta State, Nigeria.
Speaking to journalists at his residence in Egbokodo shortly after the Ologbotsere Day celebration, Emami said he informed the governor of his preferred aspirants for the Delta South Senatorial District, Warri Federal Constituency, Warri South Constituency I, and Warri South-West Constituency seats.

According to him, Governor Oborevwori responded that he would remain neutral in APC primaries concerning those positions, leaving the party to decide through internal elections.
Emami said he specifically endorsed Hon. Michael Diden for Delta South Senatorial District. For Warri South Constituency I, he named Hon. Mofe Edema as his preferred candidate, while he backed Dr. Andrew Igban for the Warri South-West Constituency seat in the Delta State House of Assembly.

He also reiterated his opposition to Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, alleging political differences over Itsekiri interests, and maintained support for other candidates he believes are more widely accepted in the area.
Emami further referenced past political contests involving Hon. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, alleging ethnic bias in previous elections, while reaffirming his stance on supporting candidates he considers popular among constituents.
On Warri North constituency, he said the governor suggested support for Orode Uduaghan, a position he said he would respect, while also acknowledging the political influence of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and other aspirants in the area.
Emami insisted that APC primaries should be conducted across the contested seats.
