The All Progressives Congress (APC) has changed the dates for its National Assembly primary elections in Zamfara State. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, announced the revision in a statement on Saturday.
According to the new schedule, the House of Representatives primary will take place on Monday, May 18, 2026, while the Senate primary is now set for Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The State House of Assembly primary remains on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, and the governorship primary is still slated for Thursday, May 21, 2026. The presidential primary continues to be fixed for Monday, May 23, 2026.
The party also released dates for appeal hearings related to the primaries: House of Representatives appeals on Tuesday, May 19; Senate appeals on Wednesday, May 20; House of Assembly appeals on Thursday, May 21; and governorship appeals on Friday, May 22, 2026.

No reason was given for the rescheduling. This follows a previous one-day postponement of the House of Representatives primaries nationally, which the APC attributed to logistical issues.
Meanwhile, tensions have risen in several states over the primaries, prompting intensified consultations by party leaders loyal to President Bola Tinubu to avoid a major internal crisis.
According to INEC’s revised timetable, all primaries and disputes must be resolved between April 23 and May 30, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
