. Ghana’s security forces have launched a major operation in the Oti Region after five people were confirmed dead in a renewed outbreak of violence in the Nkwanta South Municipality, prompting the Inspector-General of Police to deploy armoured carriers, elite reinforcements and rapid-response units to contain the unrest.
The victims three men and two women were recovered from two different locations following days of escalating tension that disrupted economic activities and forced residents to flee for safety.
Authorities say the swift deployment of police, military, intelligence and fire service personnel has begun to stabilize the area, but investigations are still underway to identify those behind the attacks.
Officials have also warned community members against spreading misinformation, urging them instead to support ongoing efforts aimed at restoring long-term peace in the troubled municipality.
