The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has removed its Bauchi State Chairman, Abdulrahman Yusuf Muazu, with immediate effect, following escalating internal tensions over the party’s direction ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Naija News, the crisis erupted after Senator Shehu Buba Umar joined the PRP and was subsequently presented as the party’s governorship candidate for Bauchi State in 2027.
The process was reportedly overseen by the now-sacked chairman. The removal was announced at a press briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Bauchi by Ahmed Mohammed Bello, the Secretary of Majidadi A Ward.
Bello stated that the decision was in line with the party’s constitution and based on a report from a disciplinary committee submitted on May 11, 2026. The committee found Muazu guilty of disobedience and failure to comply with lawful directives from the party’s national leadership.
He further alleged that Muazu had unlawfully delegated some of his official duties to the party’s National Publicity Secretary an act the committee described as a violation of PRP rules and a direct cause of internal discord.

Consequently, Muazu has been stripped of all rights to speak or act on behalf of the party, including the use of its name, symbols, or official platforms.
In the wake of Muazu’s removal, the PRP announced that its State Youth Leader, Tijjani Abubakar Aliyu, would serve as acting chairman for Bauchi State until further notice.
Addressing journalists, Aliyu vowed to stabilize the party and restore order within the state chapter.
He emphasized that the PRP would not accept or endorse any candidates especially those defecting from other political parties without broad consultations with existing members. He added that consultations would commence soon to formally confirm the party’s candidates for future elections.
