Security Embarrassment in Ghana as Man Allegedly Tries to Hijack Police Armoured Vehicle

A dramatic security incident has stirred public attention in Ghana after police arrested a man accused of allegedly stealing a Ghana Police Service armoured vehicle at Nkawie Market in the Ashanti Region.

Authorities identified the suspect as Ebenezer Frimpong.

According to reports, the incident happened after the official driver of the armoured vehicle briefly left it unattended.

The suspect allegedly seized the opportunity, entered the vehicle, and attempted to drive away before being stopped.

Police officers and bystanders quickly responded, leading to the arrest of the suspect before the vehicle could be taken far from the scene.

No injuries were reported during the incident, and the armoured vehicle was successfully recovered.

The unusual case has sparked debate across Ghana over security protocols surrounding police equipment and how such a sensitive vehicle could allegedly be accessed so easily in a public area.

Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are expected to determine whether the suspect acted alone or had outside assistance.
