The United States has launched a fresh wave of targeted military strikes against Iranian missile installations and vessels allegedly involved in laying naval mines, sharply escalating tensions across the already volatile Gulf region.
U.S. Central Command confirmed that precision operations were carried out against what it described as “immediate threat infrastructure” in southern Iran, focusing on missile storage facilities and maritime units operating near critical shipping lanes.
Military officials in Washington insisted the strikes were defensive in nature, claiming they were necessary to prevent attacks on U.S. forces and allied naval assets in the region.
However, the timing of the operation has triggered serious alarm, coming just days after renewed diplomatic engagements aimed at stabilizing the fragile ceasefire arrangement.
Iran has strongly condemned the attacks, describing them as a “direct violation of international agreements” and warning of “serious consequences” if further strikes continue.
Tehran also accused Washington of deliberately undermining peace efforts in the Middle East.
Regional analysts warn that the situation is rapidly deteriorating, with both sides appearing locked in a cycle of action and retaliation that could spill into wider conflict.
Shipping companies are already reporting heightened risk levels in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes.
Despite rising tensions, diplomatic channels remain technically open, though observers say trust between both powers is weakening by the hour.
If the current pattern continues, experts fear the Gulf could once again become the center of a wider geopolitical confrontation with global economic consequences. Tags: US Iran conflict, Middle East crisis, Strait of Hormuz
