Across Nigeria, a political migration is unfolding before the eyes of millions. Politicians who once condemned the ruling All Progressives Congress are now lining up to join it.
Men and women who once shouted “change the government” are today begging for space inside the same structure they once attacked.
So the question Nigerians are asking is simple: Why the sudden rush to APC? Many citizens do not believe this movement is about ideology, policy, or love for national progress.
They believe it is about power, survival, protection, and access to state influence. In a country where poverty is rising, insecurity remains painful, and unemployment is crushing young people, politicians appear more interested in where power lives than where the people suffer.
To many Nigerians, political parties have become hotels. Politicians check in where comfort exists and check out when pressure comes. There is little loyalty, little principle, and almost no shame. Yesterday they called APC a failure.
Today they wear its cap and sing its praises. Tomorrow, if power changes, many may run again. This is why trust in politics keeps dying.
Ordinary Nigerians are paying transport fares they can barely afford. Families are struggling to buy food. Graduates roam the streets without jobs.

Businesses are collapsing under inflation. Yet the political class is busy negotiating defections, alliances, and personal futures. What message does that send to the people. It tells citizens that elections are not always about service, but about positioning.
It tells young Nigerians that convictions can be sold. It tells struggling voters that their pain is secondary to elite survival.
The APC may celebrate every new defection as a sign of strength. But many Nigerians see something deeper: a system where politicians gather around power, not around solutions.
If APC is truly attractive, let it be because roads are working, security has improved, jobs are growing, electricity is stable, and corruption is reduced. Let people join because Nigeria is moving forward—not because power offers shelter.
The real tragedy is not politicians changing parties. The real tragedy is that the Nigerian voter has become the last person to be considered in Nigerian politics. Until leaders fear the people more than they fear losing power, defections will continue, speeches will continue, and suffering will continue.
And Nigerians will keep asking the same dangerous question: Who truly represents us anymore?
