The Delta State capital swelled with worshippers Wednesday as the Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK) opened at the Cenotaph, transforming the city into a hub for one of the largest evangelical gatherings in West Africa this year.
Organizers of the multi-day event, led by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, said final logistical and technical preparations were completed hours before the first session.
Large LED screens, high-capacity sound systems, and live broadcast equipment were installed to accommodate both the on-site crowd and a global online audience.
Security personnel, medical teams, and volunteer coordinators were deployed to manage crowd control, welfare services, and emergency protocols.
Transportation teams arranged shuttles for attendees arriving from neighboring states, while hospitality units prepared for guests from across Nigeria and abroad.
The crusade, which has previously drawn massive crowds in cities across Nigeria and internationally, is known for its emphasis on salvation, holiness, healing, and spiritual revival.

Organizers said the Asaba edition is expected to match or surpass the testimonies of healings and life-transforming encounters recorded in earlier host cities.
“Asaba is spiritually expectant,” a coordinator involved in the preparations told reporters. “We believe souls will be saved, lives will be transformed, and destinies will be redirected.”
The event will feature Bible teachings, prayer sessions, worship ministrations, and special segments addressing personal, family, and national concerns.
It is being broadcast live to a global audience, allowing virtual participation for those unable to attend in person.
With anticipation running high, Asaba stands to host one of the largest faith gatherings in its recent history.
