Carnival-Like Atmosphere as Akpabio Secures Unopposed Senatorial Ticket

Constituents and party faithful turned out in massive numbers on Monday, May 18, for the affirmation of Senate President Godswill Akpabio as the APC candidate for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District.

Akpabio, who ran unopposed, participated in the primary at his ward centre in Methodist School Ukana, Essien Udim Local Government Area. Despite being the sole aspirant, his kinsmen and supporters thronged the venue in a carnival-like atmosphere, singing and dancing to celebrate their son.

Party members described the exercise as peaceful, orderly, and transparent. Officials from INEC, civil society groups, and other stakeholders monitored the process. The Returning Officer, Mr. Gabriel Ekong, acknowledged the massive turnout and thanked everyone for their orderly conduct.

In his remarks, Senator Akpabio expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and assured constituents of continued quality representation.

He reaffirmed his commitment to development initiatives, party unity, and supporting the APC-led Federal Government. He also urged the people to extend their support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Umo Eno, and all APC candidates.
