A major political shake-up has hit the All Progressives Congress in Kebbi State as Senator Garba Musa Maidoki (Kebbi South) resigned from the party just two days before its senatorial primary election.
In a resignation letter dated May 14, 2026, and addressed to the APC Ward Chairman in Rafin Zuru Ward, Zuru LGA, the lawmaker cited the party's persistent internal crises as the reason for his exit. He noted that the infighting had become a serious obstacle to his political aspirations.

Nigeria’s already fragile opposition landscape is being shaken by escalating tensions between two major political forces, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, as fresh signals suggest that talks of a united presidential ticket or broad coalition are rapidly breaking down. What was once marketed as a possible “grand alliance” to challenge the ruling establishment is now looking increasingly like a political mirage.
