Nigeria today commemorated National Police Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the courage, discipline, and unwavering service of the Nigeria Police Force in safeguarding the nation.
The annual event, observed every April 7, brings national attention to the sacrifices made by officers in maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and protecting citizens across the country. The celebration, introduced by the Federal Government, aims to strengthen morale within the force while deepening public appreciation for security personnel. At ceremonies held nationwide, senior government officials, security chiefs, community leaders, and civil society organisations paid tribute to officers who continue to serve under challenging conditions.
Speeches highlighted the force’s contributions in combating emerging security threats, improving community policing, and upholding national stability.
In Abuja, commemorative activities included parades, award presentations, and recognition of officers who demonstrated exceptional professionalism in the line of duty.
