Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has been officially adopted as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election.
The affirmation took place on Thursday at the Katsina People’s Square, where a total of 2,835 delegates unanimously endorsed the governor's bid for a second term. Party leaders described the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and orderly.
Presenting Radda to party faithful, the Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Yakubu Machido, declared him the consensus candidate, noting that the governor was effectively unopposed.
Machido added that the affirmation reflected the collective position of party members and stakeholders across the state and was conducted in line with the party’s commitment to unity and internal democracy.
Speaking at the event, the APC National Vice Chairman for the North-West zone, Muhammad Garba, stated that the committee's mission was to ensure a peaceful and credible primary process.
He praised the discipline and unity displayed by Katsina APC members and credited the outcome to the governor’s dedication and the cooperation of stakeholders.
A former governor of Katsina State and Chairman of the APC Reconciliation Committee, Aminu Masari, also commended members for maintaining peace.

He urged all aspirants whether victorious or not to remain united ahead of the general elections, saying, “Once the arrow is drawn, you must ensure the target is achieved. Your focus should be on securing victory for all APC flag bearers.”
The Katsina State APC Chairman, Bishir Saulawa, described the party as a strong, united political family, adding that the endorsement of Radda demonstrated confidence in the governor’s leadership and performance.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Radda expressed gratitude to delegates, party leaders, and supporters, stating that the endorsement placed a renewed responsibility on him to continue serving the people with dedication.
He assured party members and residents that he would not disappoint them and appealed for continued support for President Bola Tinubu and all APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
The ceremony was attended by top APC officials, lawmakers, former governors, local government chairmen, women and youth groups, party elders, and other stakeholders.
The event concluded with the formal presentation of the APC flag to Radda by the APC National Vice Chairman for the North-West, Muhammad Garba, officially confirming him as the party’s consensus governorship candidate for Katsina State.
