‘Democracy at a High Level’: Tinubu Hails APC Primaries as Grassroots Success

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep satisfaction with the ongoing 2026 APC primaries, describing the process as clear proof of internal democracy within the ruling party.

Speaking on Saturday after casting his vote at the Ikoyi-Obalende Ward L2 in Lagos State, Tinubu said the exercise shows that grassroots members are actively involved in choosing leaders. He was accompanied by the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, and received by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other top party figures.

“This is grassroots politics where every member has the right to participate. It is peaceful and well organised. I am very satisfied,” Tinubu said.

He praised governors and party officials for handling delegate accreditation, membership registration, and voting smoothly from the ward to local government levels. He also commended electoral officials and security agencies for maintaining peace nationwide.

The President called on Nigerians to keep supporting democratic institutions, reaffirming his administration's commitment to good governance and citizen-focused policies.
