In a significant move to bolster agriculture and food security, the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has finalized plans to distribute 53,040 bags of fertiliser to farmers and other beneficiaries across the 13 local government areas of Kano North Senatorial District.
The distribution, which will involve 88 truckloads of fertiliser, is scheduled to commence on May 31, 2026.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by Ismail Mudashir, the Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate on Media and Publicity.
According to the statement, the annual fertiliser intervention is part of Senator Barau’s ongoing efforts to support farmers, enhance agricultural productivity, and advance national food security.
The beneficiaries cut across a broad spectrum of the district’s population, including farmers, party stakeholders, elected local government chairmen, vice chairmen, councillors, and secretaries.
