Pope Leo XIV Begins Historic Visit to Africa, Calls for Peace, Global Responsibility (Check the first country he visited)

Pope Leo XIV has arrived in Algeria, marking the first papal visit to the North African nation, in a trip already drawing global attention for its strong message on peace and international conduct.

Speaking upon his arrival, the Pope urged world leaders to pursue dialogue and reconciliation, while cautioning against what he described as “neocolonial” tendencies in global affairs.

His remarks highlighted concerns about powerful nations exerting undue influence over less-developed countries, a theme expected to shape much of his tour.

During his flight to Algiers, Pope Leo XIV also addressed recent criticism from former U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the ongoing U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran.

The pontiff responded firmly, stating that he has no fear of political pressure and will continue to speak openly in accordance with the teachings of the Gospel.

The visit to Algeria marks the beginning of an 11-day tour across four African nations, including Cameroon, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea.

Throughout the trip, the Pope is expected to emphasize themes of peace, unity, and interfaith dialogue.

Vatican officials say the journey is focused on spiritual outreach rather than political engagement.

However, the Pope’s comments suggest he intends to address global issues candidly, framing his message as one rooted in faith and moral responsibility rather than geopolitical interests.

Observers note that the visit comes at a time of heightened global tensions, making his calls for peace and cooperation particularly significant.
