Uganda has declined a request from Kenya for a fuel bailout, citing its own domestic supply obligations and existing commitments.
The decision comes despite Uganda’s reliance on Kenyan port infrastructure for its fuel imports, highlighting the complexity of regional energy interdependence.
According to reports by Africa View Facts, Uganda refused to grant Kenya access to fuel reserves stored within the Kenya Pipeline Company network.
Officials emphasized that available supplies are already allocated to meet Uganda’s internal demand, leaving little flexibility to accommodate external requests.
Kenya had proposed a temporary arrangement, assuring that any fuel borrowed would be replenished once delayed shipments arrived.
