Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has defended his recent visit to the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, dismissing widespread political speculation surrounding the meeting.
The former Rivers State governor said the visit was a normal political interaction and should not be interpreted as a sign of defection or hidden alliance.
Wike stressed that political leaders must continue to engage one another regardless of party differences, especially at a time when Nigeria’s political climate is becoming increasingly tense ahead of the 2027 general elections.
