A major political standoff in northern Nigeria has been brought to a close after the New Nigeria Development Company (NDC) resolved its prolonged leadership dispute, reaffirming Alhaji Husaini Mai Riga as chairman.
The resolution follows weeks of internal tension that had threatened to fracture the institution, a key economic driver in Kano State. Stakeholders and board members reached a consensus aimed at restoring stability and safeguarding the company’s strategic role in regional development.
By backing Mai Riga, the NDC signaled a return to continuity and governance order, calming fears of deeper divisions within one of northern Nigeria’s most influential public enterprises.
